you all might have heard this phrase. a promise is a promise, means that a promise could not be broken, since you promised someone something, you will have to do it. to my mind, i think you may break your promise only if something happened ( for example, you promised your to drive him to the other city, but you were sent to a business trip and can’t keep the promise you made, so you might tell your friend that you can’t do a favor for him, he’ll probably understand).
