глагол to be используется для описания состояния, а глагол to get — действия или процесса

сравните:

to be rich — быть богатым, а to get rich — разбогатеть

to be lucky — быть везунчиком, а to get lucky — поймать удачу

to be married — быть женатым (замужем), а to get married — жениться (выйти замуж)

ваш пример:

i was inspired — я был воодушевлен/вдохновлен

i got inspired — я воодушевился/вдохновился

и еще to get можно использовать в разных временных формах:

it's getting dark. - темнеет.

when it got dark, we started a fire. - когда стемнело, мы разожгли костер.
