Halloween
I remember my first Halloween. It was a cold evening, 31 October, 1988. I was A-4) living far from my home country, B-1) among my British neighbours whose kids were very C-2) excited about that day. I was thinking about my family when, suddenly, there was an energetic knock at the door. I opened the door wondering who was there knocking D-3) so loudly. To my surprise I saw a group of kids, dressed up as ghosts, witches, queens and cowboys. Two of them were carrying a E-2) pumpkin with cut out eyes, a nose and a mouth. There was a candle inside, and the holes were shining. “Trick or treat!” they shouted. I was surprised. I didn’t know what to do. My son Tom, told me, “Give them some sweets, Mummy, or they will play a trick on us.” “Like what?” I asked. “They can throw water on the windows, put a pin into the front door keyhole or break an egg on the windscreen of your car”, he explained.
I love my bedroom. I’ve got a really comfortable (1) bed – I sleep brilliantly in it! Next to it, I’ve got a small (2) table for my alarm clock and my magazines. There’s a (3) lamp on it too, so I can read at night. I’ve got a lot of books in my room and they’re on big (4) b I’ve got a (5) wardrobe for my clothes. There’s a long (6) mirror on the front of it so I can look at myself! I’ve also got a (7) cabinet. Iusually put my shoes in it. Under the window, I’ve got a (8) d and a (9) chair. I sit there and do my homework. Finally, I’ve got an old (10) a in my room. It’s from our living room, but my mum’s got a new one now. My friends always sit on it when they come round.
