Today, i`m going to tell you about an important holiday in my country, russia. in late spring, we celebrate maslenitsa (the pancake day), a holiday of pancakes. maslenitsa lasts for seven days. during this holiday we eat pancakes with sour cream, we sing and dance in circles and burn effigies. every day of maslenitsa has its own name. the first day is called "the appointment". on this day people make pancakes. the second day is "games". on this day people go sledding and eat pancakes. on the third day sons-in-law visit their mothers-in-law to be treated with pancakes. at the end of the holiday we say goodbye to the winter. maslenitsa is a lot of fun for both children and adults. after maslenitsa comes lent.
