In the center of Moscow, on red square, stands a remarkable monument to Minin and Pozharsky, created by the sculptor Ivan Martos and erected in 1818. He became a Russian General.National hero Kuzma Minin was Nizhny Novgorod townsmen, and from 1611 — Zemstvo headman.The monument recreates the historic meeting of Minin and Pozharsky, when Kozma Minin is a Prince to become the head of the national militia. On both sides of the pedestal are bronze bas-reliefs. On one is depicted as a fundraiser to fight the invaders: men carry money and goods, women their jewelry. On another bas-relief depicts a battle scene — the militia to expel the invaders. On the pedestal of the monument is the inscription: "to Citizen Minin and Prince Pozharsky. Grateful Russia".
