The internet has been an important part of our life for about twenty years. it is impossible to imagine our life without it nowadays.   the internet gives us a lot of opportunities.  it helps to communicate with people and firms which can be thousands of miles from you. it's a valuable source of infomation and knowledge. some people use it for entertainment. and fun. books, games, films can be found in the internet. a big advantage is that you can use it round the clock.   all this makes it exceptionally popular and useful. yet the internet has some obvious and  hidden risks.  criminal groups often use it to gain their profit from illegal activities.  some information can be deliberately erroneous because it is not checked by anybody. secret programmes may get into your computer and make it malfunction.  lots of spam messages can be sent to your e-mail address.  another possible danger is that your personal data can be stolen and used by other people. as to me i prefer to use the internet for work and studies.  i find a lot of interesting information and tools for learning there.    i also use it for communication with my friends.  from time to time i use it for fun - to listen to music or watch films.  in my opinion the internet is a very useful thing.  it gives a lot of opportunities and advantages.  and if you keep in mind all the risks that it may   pose, the internet in general is very helpful.
