About Halloween

I would like to tell you about my favorite holiday – Halloween.

I think it is a very interesting holiday. Many people in the USA and the UK celebrate this holiday with great pleasure, but, unfortunately, in our country this holiday is not well known. People celebrate Halloween on the 31st of October.

On this day children wear costumes of ghosts and witches. They go for a walk late at night, knock at doors of their neighbors, and shout: "Trick or treat?'' The neighbors give sweets or money, and it is really much fun. The main symbol of Halloween is a pumpkin. Children cut holes in pumpkins and place candles into them. At night pumpkins look like heads with burning eyes, and it is horrible and frightening. On this holiday people decorate their houses with pumpkins. Children bring pumpkins to school too.

Besides, children like to tell each other scary stories about ghosts, witches, and skeletons. At night scary movies are shown on TV. I like to watch Halloween scary movies and listen to Halloween scary stories very much.

I have a dream to go the UK or the USA on the 31st of October and celebrate Halloween with other children there.

Я думаю, в наше время, это очень важно знать иностранные языки. Некоторые люди учат языки, потому что они им нужны для работы, другим путешествовать за границу, и для третьих это просто хобби. Люди хотят знать языки, писать друзьям по переписке или общаться с людьми с разных стран, встретить больше новых людей и завести друзей. К тому же, они хотят читать книги известных писателей в оригинале, читать газеты и журналы. Это им узнавать больше о разных событиях, жизни людей, обычаях и традиций.
