The Metropol Hotel is one of the most beautiful Hotels in Moscow. It is a wonderful example of the Art Nouveau style. The hotel was built in 1899-1907 and was the largest hotel until the Russian Revolution of 1917.It is also unique because the three architects who built it, William Walcot, Lev Kekushev and Vladimir Shukhov, worked together with three famous artists, Mikhail Vrubel, Alexander Golovin, and Nikolai Andreev. In 1918, after the Revolution, it was nationalized by the government and used as an office building. In the 1930s,it became a hotel again. From 1986-1991 a group of companies from Finland restored the hotel as part of a Soviet - Finnish trade organization.Today, the Metropol Hotel still operates as a hotel and has 365 rooms, together with a different shape or decoration.
