Watching television is the most popular type of recreation as in many countries all over the world as in russia in particular. on average, the russians watch tv over 26 hours each week. almost in each house there is at least one tv-set and a video player. but in spite of its popularity, the opinions about television are ambiguous in the society. supporters of television confirm that television is useful. they say that tv is a source of education and pleasure. besides it gives a lot of information about different events in the country and abroad. the others actively argue against television, preferring active types of a rest to the sitting on a sofa. they call into question the usefulness of television, arguing his point of view that the fact that working tv in the house often irritates and disturbs the residents, watching mindless programs kills time and endless cartoons are harmful to the children’s health.аs for me, i find a wisdom in the both statements. i think that tv can be as useful for people who watch it to find new knowledge or to know news, who use it to their development; also as useless and even harmful for those who abuses such kind of leisure. i like tv. it helps me in the self-education, helps with my lessons. i like to watch programs about life of famous people. also i prefer the programs for teenagers. i enjoy music and the programs about music. in common i “for” television.
