Places of interest in washington  washington is not only the capital of the united states. it’s also an amazingly beautiful city. every year millions of people visit washington in order to see its famous sights. the city was named after the first president of the usa, george washington. he was the person who found the area to build the capital. washington spared some land from the states maryland and virginia and called the district columbia. there is also a separate state in the usa, called washington, but it’s situated in the far west of the country, whereas the capital-city is in the east. so people call the capital washington d.c. (district of columbia), not to confuse it with the state. washington d.c. is divided into 4 districts: north-west, north-east, south-west, south-east. these districts have respectively numbered streets each. for example, first street, second street etc. that way, it’s easy to define where you are. washington is considered to be one of the most beautiful and unusual cities of the usa. it has no skyscrapers or tall building. there are only nice parks, squares, memorials, famous monuments and buildings which are no taller than 40 meters. the best-known sights in the city are the washington memorial, which is a huge stone structure on the potomac river, and the lincoln memorial, which is designed in a shape of greek temple. the main buildings of the city are the capitol and the white house. all tourists start their sightseeing tour from these constructions. moreover, there are some other places of interest in washington. for example, the senate chamber, the statuary hall, the hall of representatives, the jefferson memorial and the library of congress which holds millions of books and manuscripts.

       My favorite book character is Harry Potter.  I think the books are really cool. Harry Potter is   really great.  I think that Harry Potter is awesome. I can tell you why I like him.

        Harry Potter is written by J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter is this wizard that goes to a wizard school called Hogwarts. There he learns wizardry. Harry faces many adventures at Hogwarts. He also faces many problems. There are heroes and villains. Harry makes lots of friends. He has a good time.

        Harry's parents died from a very terrible villain named Voldemort. He now lives with his mean grandparents in a cupboard. He barely gets dinner. He gets yelled at all of the time. He has no privileges to watch TV or anything. He is very miserable at home.

        Harry Potter is an awesome series. There are seven books. The books are very wonderful. I really enjoy the books. I think you should read them. They're great books.

My favorite place in the city is the central park. I have a lot of memories associated with this place. I fell in love with this place when I was still very tiny. Here I met a lot of people, with some of whom I ended up becoming very good friends. We often come here and enjoy the time spent together, remember difficult situations and how we went through them together. In summer, this park is full of attractions, vending machines and slot machines. We often come here with family or friends and get indescribable emotions, as if we are here for the first time. Even simple walks through the park are great for relaxing. It is sometimes very interesting to observe flowering plants, the bustle of some animals and insects. And watching how the beautiful green foliage turns into bright reds and oranges, you realize how quickly time flies. In winter, almost all the rides are removed, and an indescribably beautiful ice rink appears in their place, which by the New Year is completely decorated with various garlands and toys. Evening walks in the park seem to have become a tradition for us. My friends and I can sit until late at night and watch the children leisurely ride and the adults rush to no one knows where. I also like to walk in the park alone, because this is how I think about my life and future.

Walking early in the morning with the dog or walking with friends before bed, I often came to the conclusion that this place has become more than just a park for me. Here I grew up, met true friends, was sad and happy, cried and laughed, and I understand that without this park, without this vast territory, I cannot have a Ferris wheel and a skating rink. There are many places in my favorite city that I love to visit, but this park will always remain my favorite place.

Зимой почти все аттракционы убирают, а на их месте появляется неописуемо красивый каток, который к Новому году полностью украшен различными гирляндами и игрушками. Вечерние прогулки по парку как будто стали для нас традицией. Мы с друзьями до поздней ночи можем сидеть и наблюдать, как неторопливо катаются дети и неизвестно куда спешат взрослые. Также мне нравится гулять по парку одной, ведь так я задумываюсь о своей жизни и будущем.

Гуляя ранним утром с собакой или прогуливаясь перед сном с друзьями, я часто приходила к выводу, что это место стало для меня больше, чем просто парк. Здесь я выросла, встретила верных друзей, грустила и радовалась, плакала и смеялась, и я понимаю, что без этого парка, без этой огромной территории, колеса обозрения и катка я не смогу. В моем любимом городе множество мест, которые я люблю посещать, но самым любимым местом для меня навсегда останется именно этот парк.
