Let us go further into the past to 8,000 years ago. We are in a world without cities or towns, houses or roads. Yet there are people, about five million of them, 3 (living) on all five continents. They have cows and horses and they 4 (are farming) the land. To find the first man we must 5 (have gone) many hundreds of thousands of years into the past.
