За до комп'ютерів можна писати книги, листи і звіти, зберігати велику інформацію (на зразок списків, адрес і баз даних), робити складні розрахунки, конструювати техніку, малювати, редагувати фотографії і ще багато чого іншого ... В даний час практично всі організації в світі використовують комп'ютер.

Майже будь-яку роботу, виконану на комп'ютері, можна побачити на екрані монітора. А при бажанні, результати роботи можна роздрукувати на папері за до принтера. Але можна і навпаки, будь-який документ або малюнок ввести в комп'ютер за до сканера (аркуш паперу сканується на спеціальному екрані сканера, після чого цей документ з'являється в комп'ютері). Крім цього, будь-яку інформацію з комп'ютера можна вивести не тільки в друкованому, але і в електронному вигляді. Для цього використовуються комп'ютерні диски і флешки. За до них можна переносити інформацію з одного комп'ютера на інший або переглядати дані на екрані телевізора (наприклад, фільми, фотографії, музика і т.д.).
