The 21st century is the new era for all the inhabitants of our planet. It was both inquisitive and exciting to enter this era, to be the part of society of late 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, i.e. to cross the line. Many people were worried to see what would happen after the second millennium is over. They thought the end of the world was approaching, but nothing unusual happened. People live as they used to live, walk and talk, work and sleep, meet and communicate, invent new technologies. Speaking about the technologies, I should mention that they became even more sophisticated. That’s what the 21st century is prominent for. It’s called the era of technological progress. Many innovations were found in the 20th century, but the new era is even more progressive in this sense. Companies work on creating smart cars, houses and whole buildings. In some countries there are plans to build mini-cities within the existing cities. It means that soon there will be skyscrapers with all the necessary facilities in them. People won’t have to leave their block of flats to go to work or to the gym. Everything will be included in their many-storeyed residential building. Apart from that, there are already smart electronic tools which do all the household and daily chores for people, including self-operating vacuum cleaners, fully automatic washing machines, driverless cars, etc. The tool that is getting more powerful day by day is the computer. Already now many families have several computers, laptops, iPads, smartphones in one house. Lots of things depend on these gadgets in the 21st century. So, in my opinion, it’s the era of computerized technology we are living in.
