Figure-skatingФигурное катаниеEvery person should practice physical exercises to keep fit and healthy. As for me, I try to go jogging in summer, and ice-skating in winter. I like all kinds of sport, especially winter ones, as they are rather spectacular. I’m sure many people in the world would agree that figure-skating is the most interesting sport to watch. Each time it is on TV, I watch it with pleasure. Since 1908 it is considered to be an Olympic Sport. They say it is a very complicated sport. It’s interesting to see how athletes perform challenging jumps, spins, and other intricate moves. I think that people, who seriously dedicate their lives to figure-skating, are heroes. This sport requires hours of training each day, as well as lots of effort and commitment. It isn’t easy to find a good coach, but this factor is very important. This sport is also rather costly. It requires certain material expenses on equipment. I’ve noticed that Russian athletes are really good at figure-skating. My favourite sports person is Irina Slutskaya. In my opinion, she is the best Russian skater. Even though she had many injuries, while doing this sport, she didn’t quit. Instead, she continued working hard to gain serious achievements. As a result, she became a two-time World champion. Today, there are several kinds of figure-skating, including freestyle, synchronized team skating, pairs. In my opinion, this sport is the perfect blend of beauty and power

Today is February 16. Everybody at school (is talking) about the big Valentine's Day Dance that (comes) up next week. This is the first year at my school a dance is being actually (organized), so everyone is excited. Before Valentine's Day I was up late (making) Valentine's cards for everyone in my class. Then I (had) a great idea: instead of saying things I (did not mean), I told everyone what I (thought) of them. The trick was, I (did not write) my name on any of the cards. Some of my cards (were given) to our teacher, Mrs Riser. She went around the room (trying) to understand who (had sent) them. I knew it (would happen). That's why I (had made) a card for myself too.
