Julian Patrick Barnes born 19 January 1946 in Leicester in Central England.

From 1957 to 1964 he studied at the School of the city of London (eng. City of London School). After high school, Barnes goes to College "Magdalena", University of Oxford, faculty of modern Western European languages. In 1968 graduated from the University.

The first literary experiments began detective novels, which Barnes published under the pseudonym Dan Kavanagh. After several publications in literary anthologies — published his first novel, "Metroland" prize awarded by Somerset Maugham. The novel tells the story of a generation of rebels and nihilists of the 1960s.

The novel "the history of the world in 10 ½ chapters" (1989) was a real event in the literature. Written in the genre of dystopia, the novel looking for answers to some philosophical questions about the nature of man, his past, present and future.

Among the works by Barnes have short stories about love, for example "Before she met me", "How everything was" (Femina Prize,1992), "Love"and so forth.

The novel "Flaubert's Parrot" (the Medici Prize, 1986) is an interesting study on the role of the author in the creative process.

Barnes three times in her career got in the shortlist for the man Booker prize and became a laureate in 2011. It is noteworthy that some of the Russian publishers not the first mistaken Barnes as the recipient of the award. In 2005, the competition was Booker nominated novel "Arthur and George". English bookmakers considered the favorite to Barnes, but to be a winner, he was not destined. In 2011, this misunderstanding has been overcome. Novels "Metroland" and "Love and etc" were filmed in the UK and France respectively.

He was married to his literary agent Pat Kavanagh, with whom they lived in North London. In October 2008 Pat died suddenly from cancer.

There we are staying with American families and are having some classes before lunch time during our stay in NY and we are doing various sights after lunch. On Monday we are visiting Rockefeller Centre, on Tuesday we are walking in Central Park, on Wednesday we are having a sea trip to the Statue of Liberty, the next day, that is on Thursday we are doing the Guggenheim Museum, on Friday we are visiting a concert hall in Broadway (by the way, there are about 30 theatres and concert halls in this street). The last thing we are going to see there is the Impire State Building.The Programme is great, I hope to take a lot of pics there. That's all for now.
