Birthday is my favorite holiday.

In the morning my parents congratulate me first.

They sing me "Happy Birthday".

In the evening I usually have a party.

Вечером я обычно  провожу вечеринку.

I have a party at home.

Обычно вечеринка проходит дома.

We clean the house and decorate it with balloons.

Мы убираем и украшаем шариками дом.

My mother bakes a cake.

Моя мама печет торт.

My friends and relatives come to my birthday party.

Мои друзья и родственники приходят на вечеринку.

I get a lot of presents and flowers on this day.

В этот день я получаю много подарков и цветов.

We have much fun during the party.

Мы веселимся.

My mother brings in the birthday cake.

Мама вносит торт.

I blow the candles out.

Я задуваю свечи.

New Year  is a very popular family holiday in Russia. It is celebrated on January 1.

Now all Russians don’t work from the 31th of December to the 8th of January. It is so called winter holidays.  The most popular New Year symbols is a New Year's Tree. You can see a lot of decorated trees in streets and in every house. Another popular tradition is the arrival of Father Frost and his granddaughter the snow girl. They bring in New Year presents for the good children and keep them under the New Year's Tree. Children tell poems  to get a present. The main New Year celebrations begin from night of December 31.
At this holiday every  family tries to  get-together, use of fireworks,  eat delicious meals etc. They drink  champagne, eat the traditional salad Olivje, listen to the New Year Speech of the President. All people are happy. People in Russia like this holiday.

I think my favourite holiday is New Year. Why? Because everything changes beforе this day. People are scurrying around, shopping, choosing gifts to their near and dear ones. And of course, I love New Year because of it's inherent attribute - Christmas tree. I also can not imagine this holiday without New Year's feast. Cooking dinner in this day - it is a special moment in each family. And there is one more importand moment - fireworks after midnight. It is a wonderful culmination of the holiday!
