The British Isles are a group of islands lying off the north-west coast of the continent of Europe. This archipelago includes two major islands - Great Britain and Ireland and about six thousand small islands.

Two independent states - the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland - occupy the territory of the main islands: England is situated in the south and the center of Great Britain, Scotland and Wales take up the north and the west of the island, respectively, and both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are located on the island of the same name - Ireland.

The British Isles also include three distant islands: the Isle of Man, The Bailiwick of Jersey and Bailiwick of Guernsey.

As for the relief, there are no very high mountains on these islands. The most mountainous part is Scotland where we can find the highest peak of isles - Ben Nevis. Its height is 1,343 meters. Another high mountain is situated in Wales. It’s called Snowdon and rises to the height of 1,085 metres above the level of the sea.

On the islands there are many beautiful lakes. The largest one is Lough Neagh in Ireland with an area of 381 square kilometres. There are also several long rivers among which the lengthy is Shannon. It is 368 kilometres long.

The forests and the meadows occupy a large part of the islands. They are considered to be important natural resources and the British do their best to save them for future.

The climate of the British Isles is mild. It means that it’s not very cold in winter and not very hot in summer. In winter, as a rule there is no ice on the lakes and the rivers, and snow never lies on the ground for a long. Speaking about the climate, I can’t help saying that all parts of the British Islands get a lot of rain in all seasons and the weather is generally changeable.

Four main ethnic groups live on the islands. They are the English, the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish. Each group has its own language and culture.

Everest (the name was given in honor of Sir George Everest ) , or Chomolungma ( Tibetan "Divine ") or Sagarmatha ( Nepal with "Mother of the Gods" ) . As was common name Chomo - Kankar , which in Tibetan means " the mother - the queen of snow white ." For a long time ( until 1903 ) was called the vertex Gaurizankar , due to the fact that the traveler G. Schlagintweit put forward the version that the top of Mount Everest and Gaurizankar identical. The highest peak of the world height of 8848 m, is located in the Himalayas .

В будни мой рабочий день начинается рано утром. Я обычно встаю в шесть часов. Я делаю свои утренние упражнения, а затем иду в ванную для того чтобы почистить мои зубы и принять теплый душ. После этого я иду в свою спальню что бы одеться. В пятнадцать минут восьмого я завтракаю чашкой чая и бутербродом. Я слушаю радио или смотрю новости по телевизору, после чего иду в свою техническую школу. на то что бы добраться туда у меня уходит 15 минут. Я никогда не еду на автобусе или троллейбусе. Обычно я иду пешком. Наши занятия начинаются в восемь утра, и длятся до двух часов дня. У нас есть перерывы в 10 минут между уроками. Во время длинных 20-минутных перемен, мы ходим в столовую пообедать.
