Tower Bridge is a drawbridge in the center of London crossing the River Thames near the Tower of London. Sometimes people confuse it with the London Bridge which is actually the next bridge upstream. It was opened in 1894. It is the iconic symbol of London and UK. The bridge was designed by Horace Jones, it is a drawbridge 244 m in length with two towers each 65 m high, built on piers.
Design of the bridge allows people to still cross the river, even when the bridge is raised. For this purpose besides the usual sidewalks, special pedestrian walkways connecting towers at 44 m height were designed. One could access the walksways by the stairs inside the towers. Since 1982 these pedestrian walkways have been used as a museum and viewing galleries.
