Кино намного моложе, чем театр. оно появилось в конце 19-го века. первыми людьми, которые показали первые фильмы общественности, были братья люмье из  франции. они сделали это в гранд кафе на бульваре капуцинов в  париже 20-го февраля 1896 года. это было первым кино показом.   быстро кино появилось во многих других местах во всех частях мира.первые фильмы показывали движущихся людей и транспорт, затем люди смогли смотреть короткие комедии на экране. в 1901 франция стала первой страной, которая создала драматический фильм " преступления", потом появился фильм "великое ограбление поезда" в соединенных штатах в 1903 году. сначала, люди могли смотреть фильмы где угодно : в музыкальных салонах, клубах и магазинах. к 1908 специальные кинотеатры начали давать постоянные(регулярные) показы. в этот период времени кино быстро развивалось и в новом и в старом свете. чарли чаплин снял свой первый фильм "зарабатывая на жизнь" в 1914 в сша. российская киноиндустрия теперь продолжала свой собственный путь. были созданы такие великие фильмы как "пиковая "  (1916) и "отец сергий" (1918) протазанова. немного позже "броненосец потемкин" вышел на экран. это явилось великим достижением  россии в кино. режиссером был сергей эйзенштейн. в 1927 warner brothers в голливуде сняли первый фильм, в котором актер пел и говорил. название фильма было "певец джаза". в нём было три песни и короткий диалог. этот фильм открыл новую эру в фильмах - эру “разговорных фильмов" или звуковых фильмов. немые фильмы пришли в упадок(умерли) в течение года. первый 100%-ный звуковой фильм,"огни нью-йорка", появился в 1928, а первые цветные фильмы - в 1930-х.
