For the most part an architect’s working day will be office based. However, site visits and meetings with clients are frequent, so travel can figure prominently. Working hours are typically standard office hours (e.g. 9.00 am to 8.00 pm, Monday to Friday), but architects may work longer hours, evenings and weekends if there are tight project deadlines to meet.
One can only become an architect if he/she has a relevant degree, obtained in a university. However, continuing to learn and develop the expertise as a professional is a key part of the job.
Pay may vary depending on the location and the complexity of the project. The architect's job may sometimes be somehow dangerous in terms of health and safety, especialy when it comes to visiting the construction site. However, the benefits of the occupation (creative nature of the job, ability to travel and high level of salary) completely pay off for the possible risks.
