To be в времени

Спряжение глагола to be в времени имеет две формы:

— Для единственного числа — Was [wɒz] с местоимениями — I, he, she, it

— Past simple от глагола to be во множественном числе: — Were [wɜ(r)] для местоимений — we, you, they

Примеры с глаголом to be в past simple:

1. I was fond of sport – Я увлекалась спортом.

2. We had to read it some times, because it was difficult – Нам пришлось читать это несколько раз, потому что было сложно.

3. Elvis Presley was American – Элвис Пресли был американцем

4. They were at the hotel yesterday – Вчера они были в отеле.

5. When I was 5 I was afraid of the dentist – Когда мне было 5, я боялся стоматолога.

6. She wasn’t at home last night, was she? – Ее не было дома ночью, не так ли?

7. The ice-cream wasn’t expensive – Мороженое было недорогим.

Как видно по примерам, спряжение to be past simple запомнить очень просто. Она имеет всего две формы, что и облегчает обучение.
