Talnikovy (or Talnikovsky) waterfall - the highest waterfall in Russia, and the same in Asia. It is located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the Putorana Plateau (Central Siberian Plateau) in the Putorana Reserve, near Lake Dupkun, between the mouths of the 1st Gagar and the 2nd Gagar River.
The waterfall is formed by a seasonal stream from the mountainside of Trapezia, with a period of 1-2 months. The waterfall is cascading, fifteen-step, with a height of more than 600 m.
The waterfall is considered as a place of attracting tourists, however, due to the lack of transport and hotel infrastructure, the transportation and accommodation of tourists to these places is extremely difficult.
Height of the waterfall [edit] | edit wiki-text]
Initially, popular scientific literature reported that the height of the cascade near the mouth of the Talnikova River is visually estimated at 600 meters. Instrumental measurements of the waterfall (with the help of a theodolite) on the initiative of the author of the book "Geographic Kaleidoscope" by Pyotr Kravchuk produced on September 7, 1990 the expedition of the water sports tourist section of the sports club "Steel" at the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant. The expedition consisted of 8 people, it was headed by the Master of Sports of the USSR Boris Ilyich Babitsky. According to their measurements, the height of the cascade of the waterfall is 482 meters. The result of measurements was recorded in the book by Petr Kravchuk "Records of Nature".
According to the independent research project "Talnikova Falls: Myth or Reality?" During this expedition, another waterfall was measured, and the true height of the Talnikovo waterfall is then considered to be 600-700 m. Later sources also give the height of the waterfall at 600-700 m.
