What is the Internet? It turns out that on this issue you can get totally different answers. Europeans and Americans probably answer absolutely without hesitation: “the Internet”- this is what is on the desktops and home kitchens, in cars and planes... However, a Russian on the same issue can break down: “...perhaps this is what is so often written in computer magazines ...and I did something on the Internet has never been. Lucky that there was, in Russia a little; for the rest of the real-time communication with the whole world seems to be something mysterious and infinitely distant. I am glad that the number of Internet users from year to year in our country is growing (although after our good MINSVYAZ will be taking per-minute fees for telephone use, since mid-1998, the number of Russian visitors again probably diminished).
One of the main differences of the Internet from just about anything else related to computers, is that for successful work with it, you don't need any books. The Network itself can serve as a reference and tutorial, and encyclopedia itself. Every user sooner or later finds its ecological niche in the Internet.
The Internet today is not only a huge number of computers, but also an incredible amount of people, for which network is an essentially new way of communicating, almost unparalleled in the material world. Man is a social being, and communicating with like–one of the first to his needs. Until now still any technical invention (not counting the phone) did not make such revolution in this ancient pastime–communion of man with man.
Assuming that on this subject, and the device itself Network written a lot of works and abstracts, I will try to describe this cultural phenomenon from the perspective of an ordinary user, and not attributing truths and many books. Maybe I'll note the familiar facts that are well known to you, but everything I've learned, when “caught in the net and could not get out”. This work can be considered as the alphabet, an introduction for those who have just begun a journey through the vast expanse of this world virtual ocean, the name of which is the INTERNET.
