Sometime I ask my parents: what was their childhood like? They told me a lot about their hobbies, free time and other boring things. In their time they did't have modern toys like our. Sometimes they used to make them by themself. In the past many kind of toys were very expensive. Some children went to the toy shop only for looking but not for buying. 
Luckily, in our time we have a lot of modern toys like robots, talking toys, beautiful dolls. Also there are a lot of games in our gadgets, the alternative for traditional toys.
I think that all kind of toys in differnt centuries are good for their time.
