Библиотека - это место, где хранятся книги. Библиотека нужна для того, что бы люди могли взять для прочтения любую книгу. Там хранятся книги, которые сейчас в продаже не найти. Книги великих русских писателей, которые рассказывают о жизни людей о великих войнах и великих людях. Книги заботливо хранят, оберегают, что бы они могли долго служить людям. Каждая книга имеет своё место в библиотеке, полку на которой она хранится. В библиотеке есть научные книги, фантастика, произведения современных писателей. Читая книги, мы узнаем много нового, интересного, начинаем думать по новому! Книга очень нужна человеку. Библиотеки - это книжные хранилища, в которых хранятся накопленные веками знания, умения человечества!

1. A library is a collection of information, sources, resources, books, and services, and the structure in which it is housed: it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual.
In the more traditional sense, a library is a collection of books.
The term can mean the collection, the building that houses such a collection, or both.

Public and institutional collections and services may be intended for use by people who choose not to — or cannot afford to — purchase an extensive collection themselves, who need material no individual can reasonably be expected to have, or who require professional assistance with their research.

However, with the collection of media other than books for storing information, many libraries are now also repositories and access points for maps, prints, or other documents and various storage media such as microform (microfilm/microfiche), audio tapes, CDs, cassettes, videotapes, and DVDs. Libraries may also provide public facilities to access CD-ROMs, subscription databases, and the Internet.

4. Thus, modern libraries are increasingly being redefined as places to get unrestricted access to information in many formats and from many sources. In addition to providing materials, they also provide the services of specialists, librarians, who are experts at finding and organizing information and at interpreting information needs.

5. More recently, libraries are understood as extending beyond the physical walls of a building, by including material accessible by electronic means, and by providing the assistance of librarians in navigating and analyzing tremendous amounts of knowledge with a variety of digital tools.

 N. I’m OK. Thank you. Nice weather, isn’t it?

 J.I agree with you. It’s very warm today, isn’t it?

 N. Yes, and it’s not so warm back home in Canada.

 J. By the way, I want you to meet Nigel Mc Can. He is the head of our sales department.

 Nig. . . Is this your first visit to Lincoln?

 N. Yes, and I enjoy it very much.

 J. OK, gentlemen, it’s a quarter past nine. Let’s meet. I think we may start with…

 

It was a cold snowy day. Santa woke up in the morning and looked at the clock. It was already 12 o`clock! Santa in horror realised, that it was 24th of December and he needed to do a lot of work! He quickly put on his clothes and went to his toy factory. It was Christmas day, and he had to pick all presents in to his sleigh. When he opened the toy factory`s door, he started to smile. His little dwarfs were working really hard. They were packing all presents in beautiful and bright boxes. Santa thought, that children would be really pleased.   Then Santa went into his office and started to check letters from children. All letters looked like: „I want a dog”, „I want a computer”, but one letter really touched him. A boy, from Scotland was really upset about his parents` argument. He really loved his parents and asked Santa to make them a couple again.  Santa quickly called his best dwarf and told him about this letter. The dwarf promised to do his best. It was 6 o`clock and Santa started to collect all presents in to his slegh. Then his deer flew up in the sky.  That Christmas day was very sad for the little boy. He always dreamed about a family Christmas evening, but his parents were always abroad and that time they were in argument. Suddenly, appeared the little dwarf and waved with his magic stick in the air. Instantly, all the boy`s family appeared in the room. Mother and Father layed the table, the Christmas tree`s pine-needles smelled freshly, there were pretty stockings with presents on the fireplace. The little boy was really happy and said: „Thank you Santa, now I know that miracles exist...”
