My favorite subject is English. This subject is me 3 times a week. At this lesson, we do exercises from a textbook, we write dictations, we study conversations with roles. An English teacher is very good at us never screams. If we do not understand something in the classroom then the teacher will explain to us again.

My favorite subject in school is Mathematics. It is my favorite because I never have difficulty with it and always get good marks in tests.
I suppose I am lucky to be born with a clear-thinking brain. So ever since young, manipulating numbers and figures came easy to me. The wonderful thing about Mathematics is that, besides some formulae, there is nothing else to remember. Every step in solving a problem is done logically. Other subjects like History and Geography require a lot of memory work. Remembering dates and other facts is hard work compared with the ease and simplicity of mathematical reasoning.

We study one of the modern languages at school. It is English. It’s my favourite subject. At the lessons of English we learn to read, write and speak. We learn the History and Geography of bur country, Great Britain and the USA. We read stories after famous English and American children’s writers. I want to be clever at English because English will help me in my future life. I shall read books in English, watch films and listen to songs and understand them. But what is more important, I shall speak with people from other countries and we’ll understand each other. We’ll make friends and will live in peace.

Drawing is an interesting subject, too. I’m fond of drawing and painting. When we draw, we make pictures with a pen or chalk. When we paint, we make pictures with paint. We may paint in water- colours or in oils. It is not easy to paint in oils. At the lessons we speak about famous artists and their paintings. It helps me to understand the beauty. If we want to make a good drawing, we must have a good eye, see and watch, learn to compare things and have rich imagination. Drawing helps us in many subjects: in Geography, History, Botany, Literature. We understand things better, remember the facts and learn things quicker if there are pictures in the books and our textbooks. Drawing is a useful subject, I think. I’m good at Drawing.

В первом случае, at 10pm yesterday дает нам момент во втором случае, фраза by 10pm yesterday указывает на то, что действие произошло до момента.

Единственное, на что Вы должны обратить внимание, это повествовательные предложения, в которых описывается последовательность действий. В подобных предложениях нужно использовать исключительно Past Simple.

Пример:

On his birthday, Jaсk got up at eight. Нe opened his presents and then he went to the zoo with his family. – В свой День Рождения Джек встал в восемь. Он открыл свои подарки, а затем пошел в зоопарк с членами своей семьи
