1. An elephant is a huge animal that lives in Africa and Asia. Elephants are grey, they have two big ears, two long teeth (tusks) and a long nose (a trunk). They eat leaves, plants, fruit and roots. Elephants are mammals.

2. A fox belongs to the dog family. It is a mammal. Foxes are red and they have beautiful fluffy tails. They are very cunning, they catch and eat small animals and birds. They live all over the world.
14. A panda is a white-and-black mammal. It lives in the forests of China. It can climb very well. Pandas look like fluffy bears. They eat bamboo trees, plants and small animals.

3.A kangaroo is a mammal that lives in Australia. It eats plants and leaves. Kangaroos have strong long legs and they can hop very fast. They also have a pocket on their stomach where they can carry their babies.

4. A squirrel is a small pretty animal. It has a fluffy tail. It lives in trees all over the world. Squirrels eat nuts, berries, fruit and insects. They can jump and climb trees.

It was about 6pm when I heard a knock on the door. It was Jason, my teenage neighbour. He looked cold and upset.
“What’s wrong, Jason?”
“I have lost my key and I can’t get into my house.”
“Come in. Today’s not a day for long walks, or long waits,” I looked out the window. It was snowing hard and it was windy. The weather was getting worse every hour.
Jason took off his coat and boots. His feet were wet and I gave him a pair of socks to change into. A cup of hot tea and some biscuits soon made the boy feel warm.
“Where are your parents, Jason?”
“I don't know. I can’t call them because of this,” he pulled his phone out of his pocket and showed it to me – the screen was broken and the phone was obviously dead.
Jason focused on the food again. He took his fourth biscuit and said: “I wish my mum could make biscuits like this.”
