Ivan square in Moscow is famous Tsar cannon. It is installed on the carriage, and near it lay kernel. But, don't think these engines and this laft king of the cannon to shoot may not, and would never.

The Tsar cannon is actually not the gun itself, but rather Bombarda. Bombardi shot with large stones and was intended to break the walls of fortresses during their siege. The Tsar cannon was also intended for shooting stones weighing up to 800kg. To charge such a Bombarda was required the day, and to shoot built a special wall for repayment of the rollback.

The Tsar cannon was cast in 1586 by our master Andrey Chokhov. Its length is 5.35 m, the diameter of the barrel - 120cm., caliber - mm., weight - 39.31 so (2400 pounds).

So why is a gun called the Tsar cannon.

There are two versions. The first is because of its large size, the second - because of the engraved image of the last Tsar of the Rurik dynasty - Fyodor Ivanovich on horseback. Historians prefer the second version, because there is a gun the size and caliber more of our Turks were cast.
