Copy out of the text 3 sentences: the first - in the Present Simple, the second - in the Past Simple, the third - in the Future Simple. Underline the predicates. Translate the sentences into Russian. MY FUTURE CAREER It’s rather difficult sometimes to choose a career and to speak about the future profession. I’d say it’s because a lot may change in our life in a moment. There are lucky people who chose their profession in childhood. But they are few. If we are not indifferent to our future, while thinking about the future career we are to pay attention to a number of important things. We should determine our abilities and inclinations. Then we should analyze job prospects. We must know whether the profession we choose will guarantee good living conditions and give promotion. We must be sure we’ll avoid unemployment or at least will be able to apply our knowledge and skills in other fields of human activity. In short, we are to decide what we are going to do in our life and feel satisfied, but not bored or disappointed. When I was a fifth-former I dreamt of becoming a doctor. I wanted to be a surgeon and treat people and save their lives. I admired the courage and generosity of surgeons. But then I noticed I couldn’t bare the sight of blood, I’m not able to deal with surgical instruments. And I gave up this idea. At that time I realized that I was fond of English. I was always good at English at school. And when we got acquainted with the English and American literature, I understood that I want to have a perfect command of the English language and become a good specialist in English. So I do my best to master the language because I have made up my mind to apply to the Linguistic University and become either a teacher or an interpreter. I haven’t chosen it yet. Both professions are interesting and necessary in our society. Perhaps, I’ll keep our family tradition and become a teacher of English. But I’ll think about it tomorrow if I enter the University.

If I had a chance to open my own restaurant, it would be Chinese restaurant, because I was always interested in China and its cuisine. Moreover I think my business would be successful due to the popularity of  oriental food such as japanese, korean and, of course, chinese.

My restaurant would be located right in the city centre in the big hall, decorated in the oriental style.  Its name would be "Golden Dragon", and to my mind, the decorations of red, golden and yellow colours would be very suitable there.

You know, the three main criteria for good Chinese food are colour, aroma and taste. The menu would include such famous dishes like Peking duck, fried rice, meat roastings, shark's fin soup and other seafood dishes, that are highly acclaimed for its artful use of seasonings and spice.

This Chinese restaurant would provide not only tasty food and good service, but it would also learn the visitors the traditions and customs of the foreign country such China.

Nowadays people spend lots of money in order to go to an English-speaking country to improve their language skills. But is it really the most effective way of learning a language? In my view, studying in a foreign country has certain drawbacks. Firstly, this way is very expensive as the tuition fee for overseas students is rather high. Besides, when you study abroad, you have to adapt to a very different way of life, which can be quite stressful. What is more, English teachers do not speak Russian so if you don’t know English well, you will not understand their explanation.

It is often assumed that it is better to study a language abroad because you can always use it speaking with native speakers. However, I doubt that we will have lots of opportunities to speak abroad as we do not know many people there. It is also believed that Russian teachers are not as qualified as those in England. I totally disagree with this opinion because Russian teachers can compare two languages and explain grammar rules better.

To sum up, I would argue that the best way to learn a language is to study it in your native country because you can always get the necessary help from your teachers. Moreover, today we have lots of opportunities to improve our skills such as communicating with English pen-friends over the Internet. I think that we should travel abroad so as to practise a language but not to study it.
