At first, Wells seems to be a kind of follower of Jules Verne, a kind of "technical science fiction". The Martians brought new principles of science and technology to Earth. Their combat tripods, walking at the speed of a bird, their heat and light rays, their gas attacks, the ability to use articular rather than wheeled devices, to which engineers of future generations came, are the forerunners of robotics. Aircraft heavier than air were just being planned, and Wells's Martians are already building their own aircraft. Wells' one more prediction is chimerical. The Martians look like an intelligent tadpole, equipped with bundles of tentacles. They are more likely a product of terrestrial rather than extraterrestrial civilization. And in the eyes of a modern person, they are disgusting. Moreover, the Martians feed on the blood of creatures that resemble the current inhabitants of the Earth. This is one of the main reasons for their expansion. The action begins with the fall of the first cylinder of the Martians unscrewing from the inside. Television plays very important role in our life. It is a powerful sourse of entertainment and information, a door through which the whole world can enter our homes. There is virtually no family that does not have a TV set. Some people prefer to spend their free time watching light TV programmes while others prefer watching political and educational programmes. After the decrease of television censorship we can watch many really interesting programmes: informational, political, musical, educational, for children and for old - people, sporting, and many different games. It is difficult to say what TV programmes one likes most of all. From the informational and political programmes I prefer "Night News" and "Podrobytsi", because in my opinion, they discuss different important events of our country and abroad.Many people like such musical programmes as "Melorama", "Chance", and some others because music helps them to get though difficult times or to get over bad mood.New programmes, such as "Dancing with the Stars" and "The First Million" are enjoyable and entertaining ones. Schoolchildren can learn better geography, zoology, and biology by watching regular TV programmes such as "The Traveller's Club" and "The World of Animals". Programmes such as "What? Where? When?" attract the attention of many people, too. It is rich in many facts taken from everyday life, history of the country, literature and science.

Телебачення грає дуже важливу роль у нашому житті. Це — могутнє джерело розваг та інформації, двері, через які весь світ може зайти до нас у гості. Немає фактично жодної родини, яка б не мала телевізора. Деякі люди вважають за краще витрачати свій вільний час, дивлячись розважальні телевізійні програми, поки інші віддають перевагу переглядові політичних і освітніх програм. Після зменшення телевізійної цензури ми можемо гати багато дійсно цікавих програм: інформаційних, політичних, музичних, освітніх, для дітей і для старих людей, і багато різних ігор. Важко сказати, які ТБ-програми ми любимо більше за все. З інформаційних і політичних програм я віддаю перевагу «Нічним новинам» і «Подробицям», тому що, на мою думку, вони обговорюють різні важливі події нашої країни і за кордоном.Багато людей люблять такі музичні програми як «Мелорама», «Шанс» і деякі інші, тому що музика допомагає їм пережити важкі часи або поганий настрій.Нові програми, як, наприклад, «Танці з зірками» і «Перший мільйон» приємні і розважальні програми. Школярі можуть краще вивчати географію, зоологію, і біологію гаючи регулярні програми ТБ, як, наприклад, «Клуб мандрівників» і «Світ тварин». Програми, як, наприклад, «Що? Де? Коли?» також концентрують увагу багатьох людей. Вони багаті фактами, узятими з сьогоденного
 життя, історії країни, літератури і науки.
