Philip Reis in 1861 invented the head phones. They were created not in order not to disturb others, and to receive telephone signals, which was so small that the normal reception prevented any extraneous noise. Initially, they were used in headset telephones, and later radios. But for music listening they were used when their design is allowed to reproduce the sound with high quality.

Филипп Рейс в 1861 году изобрел головные телефоны. Они создавались не для того, чтобы не мешать окружающим, а для приема телефонных сигналов, сила которых была настолько мала, что нормальному приему мешал любой посторонний шум. Вначале их использовали в микротелефонной гарнитуре телефонов, позже - в радиостанциях. А для прослушивания музыки их стали использовать тогда, когда их конструкция позволила воспроизводить звук с достаточно высоким качеством.
