False or True My sister doesn’t eat meat. She calls herself a vegetarian. Mum calls her sensitive. Dad calls her a nutcase. I don’t call her anything unless she picks on me then I call her names I can’t mention in a poem. At dinner we’re all chomping on our steak, except for my sister who eats a pile of veggies and some stuff called “veggie-sausage” which is not sausage at all, only more vegetable. When we go for a drive in the country with green meadows full of cows and sheep my sister points and says “Look, there’s your dinner tonight!” When we go to McDonald's my sister stays in the car or hands out “Meat is Murder” stickers. People keep away from my sister but animals walk right up to her outstretched hand. Horses, cows, goats, her boyfriend John, sheep — they all seem unafraid. I might try to be a vegetarian soon. Maybe after tonight’s dinner, my favourite, roast lamb! 1. Mum understands why her daughter doesn’t eat meat. 2. Dad believes his daughter’s behaviour is foolish. 3. The brother and sister never quarrel. 4. There are some other vegetarians in the family. 5. The sausage she eats doesn’t contain meat. 6. She doesn’t eat meat because she believes that it’s wrong to kill animals. 7. She finds it easier to deal with people than with animals. 8. Her brother is sure he will become a vegetarian in the future.

My Favourite TV-Channel
My name is ИМЯ and I’M ? years old. I study at the 8th grade of a secondary school. My timetable is overloaded sometimes, but I find time to do the things that I like. When I’m free, I read an interesting book, listen to music, meet up with friends or go cycling around the lake. When I want to learn something new about the world, I turn on the TV. My favourite channel is Discovery. I watch this channel since childhood and I must say that thanks to it my perception of the world became richer. I’ve learned many interesting things, connected with science, technology and history. In fact, Discovery comes in many different languages. So, when I want to improve my listening skills I watch it in English. This channel was launched in 1985 in the USA. Originally it consisted only of documentary programs about popular science. However, later it expanded into reality television and soon it became one of the best channels of non-fiction programming in the world. Apart from series of scientific documentaries the channel has several programs aimed at younger audience. Today, Discovery is watched in 170 countries across the world. It’s a commercial channel, so we pay for a monthly fee for having it. In my opinion, such channels are not only entertaining, but highly educational. Unfortunately, I’m allowed to watch TV for no longer than three hours a day. All I get to see is just a couple of programs. My favourite ones are “How it’s made” and “MythBusters”.
