London is the capital of Great Britain. It is very old city. It was founded by Romans more than two thousand years ago. First it was a small town on the banks of the river Thames. London was destroyed many times.Now London is a beautiful city. I want to visit London because there are many interesting places in it.The Tower of London is an old fortress, now it is a big museum. The Tower is guarded by the famous "Beefeaters". They are dressed in traditional medieval costumes, they work as guides and tell about the Tower to the visitors. There are the black ravens at the Tower of London. Thelegend says that if the ravens disappear, Great Britain will face a great tragedy.I draw your attention to the Buckingham Palace. It is the place where the Queen lives. She holds official meetings and ceremonies there.There are a lot of museums in London. For example, Madame Tussaud`s Museum. It has a great collection of wax figures where the visitors can see wax figures of presidents, film stars, musicians and other outstanding people in the world.I am sure London is a wonderful city. When I grow up, I shall visit this famous city and I believe my dream will come true.

Лондон разрушали много раз.Сейчас Лондон - красивый город. Мне хотелось бы побывать в Лондоне, потому что в нём много интересных мест. Тауэр - это старая крепость, сейчас она представляет собой большой музей. Тауэр охраняют знаменитые бифитёры, "мясоеды". На них одеты традиционные средневековые костюмы, они работают гидами и рассказывают историю Тауэра своим посетителям. В Тауэре живут чёрные вороны. Легенда гласит, если вороны исчезнут, то Британия столкнётся с большим трагическим событием.Я хочу привлечь ваше внимание к Букингемскому дворцу. Это место, где живёт королева. Она проводит там официальные встречи и церемонии. В Лондоне много музеев. Например, музей Мадам Тюссо. Он имеет огромную коллекцию восковых фигур. Посетители могут посмотреть восковые фигуры президентов, кинозвёзд, музыкантов и других выдающихся людей в мире.Я уверен, что Лондон- чудесный город. Когда я вырасту, я посещу этот знаменитый город, и я верю, что моя мечта сбудется .

Electricity
The name came from the Greek word for amber and was coined by Elizabeth I's physician William Gilbert who was among those who noticed that amber had the power to attract light objects after being rubbed. Edinburgh-born scientist Alexander Graham Bell patented his invention of the telephone in 1876. The following year, the great American inventor Thomas Edison produced the first working telephone. With telephones soon becoming rapidly available, the days of letter-writing became numbered.

Computer (20th Century)
The computer has been another life-transforming invention. British mathematician Charles Babbage designed a form of computer in the mid-1830s, but it was not until more than a century later that theory was put into practice. Now, a whole generation has grown up with calculators, windows, icons, computer games and word processors, and the Internet and e-mail have transformed communication and information.

Aeroplane

The plane was the invention that helped shrink the world and brought distant lands within easy reach of ordinary people. The invention of the petrol engine made flight feasible and the American Wright brothers made the first flight in 1903.
