Local school boards run the public schools under the laws passed by the state legislature. The State Board of Education assists the local schools, but doesn’t give orders to the district board. The United States Office of Education also assists with advice and information, but the actual control is located in the local school district, where the people know the local situation. Attendance (посещаемость) at school is compulsory. Parents cannot decide to keep their children out of school. Each state compels the attendance of young people, usually between the ages of 7 and 16. Schooling should be enriched and not just confined to the fundamentals. Most Americans believe that schools should be places where young people can grow (расти) in body, mind and spirit. It is rather important for everyone to make the right choice of profession, because what we choose defines the largest part of our life. If someone chooses to be a teacher, he or she will spend most of the time dealing children. Those, who choose to become doctors, spend most of their adult life helping people to cope with various diseases. I chose to discuss different matters and argue about them. Basically, I want to become a lawyer. On daily basis I like investigating, finding out the truth, arguing and winning.

I understand that it is necessary (2) to study a lot to become a doctor. I also understand that this profession requires (3) great responsibility (4) because it deals with the most precious thing one has — with his health.
My grandfather is a doctor and he works as a surgeon (6) in hospital. I have been several times at the hospital and spent some time watching him working.
His main task is to operate on people. After each operation he takes care of the patients until they recover (7). He examines people and gives them professional advice. After operation people should follow his instructions. My grandfather says, if your health is good, you are always in good mood. It is very important for everybody.
He is always kind and attentive to his patients. People feel that and trust him. That is why it is easier to treat them.
I know that he wants to see all his patients able-bodie notice that he is happy when his patients recover.
My grandfather can also help if somebody has caught a cold or has got a fever. He told me a lot of true stories about doctors and their profession:
I love and respect my grandfather and I want to become a doctor as well. I'll do my best to help people who have problems with their health.
