С именем Вольтера связано распространение в России т.н. вольтерьянства (дух свободомыслия, ниспровержения авторитетов).
 Франсуа Мари Аруэ - более известный под псевдонимом Вольтер - был ведущей фигурой французского Просвещения. Поэт, драматург, эссеист, романист, автор коротких рассказов, историк и философ, Вольтер был апостолом свободомыслящего либерализма.
