I really like snowboarding because it is really funny and good for health activity, also I have an extra reason to see friends. Unfortunately I can do it only in winter, that’s why winter it is my favorite season, usually I do it with my friends, but sometimes my cousin goes with me.
I don’t know is it popular among me peers, but it doesn’t important for me.

A: Hi Bill! I haven't seen you for months! Where have you been?

B: Hi Steffi! I haven't been here since last August when I went travelling. I started in France and then I visited Spain, Poland, Romania, Italy and Greece.

A: Wow! That sounds amazing! I have never been to any of those places. Why did you decide to go travelling?

B: Well, I'm writing a book about customs and traditions in Europe. I have already learned lots of interesting things and I'm leaving again next week. I'm going to Germany, although I haven't booked my tickets yet.

A: Well, I hope you have a great time, Bill. I can't wait to read your book!

1: I bought a book yesterday. (Собеседник впервые слышит о книге, у него нет представления о ней, поэтому ставится неопределенный артикль а)
2: Really? What about it?
1: This book is about the life of a soldier. (Теперь у оппонента есть представление о книге, он знает о чем речь и про то, что я ее вчера купила, поэтому употребляем одну из форм артикля the-конкретную.)
