His historic works tell the stories of the early English kings: ofpoor Richard II, clever Henry IV and brave Henry V. Others tell the tragic stories ofthe ancient world: about the murder of Julius Caesar, about the Roman general MarkAntony. Other plays tell the tales of imaginary characters: of Othello, who murderedhis wife after listening to the lies of an evil man. William Shakespeare was born morethan four hundred years ago, but his plays are still performed and will be performedfor many years to come.​
