1. The monument is made of stone.
2. Russian borsch is made from cabbage, potato, onions.
3. My warm coat is made of wool.
4. A sandwich is made of bread and cheese.
5. Juice is made from apples.

Почему?

1) The shirt is made of cotton. (Хлопок не перестал быть хлопком после использования в футболке.)
The keyboard is made of plastic. (Пластик не растерял своих свойств при клавиатуре.)

2) Paper is made from tree. (Древесина перестала ею быть и стала бумагой, из которой можно что-либо сделать.)
Wine is made from grapes. (Виноград перестал быть таковым, он превратился в совершенно иную субстанцию — в вино в данном случае.)

Правило следующее:
• Если что-то сохраняет свои изначальные свойства после использования, пишем 'made of'.
• Но если форма и качества меняются в процессе изготовления — 'made from'.
