the most popular entertainment in our home life is television. we have a choice between five channels: first channel, russia and 3 commercial channels. there is also a cable tv station in our town. television plays an important role in our life. it informs people about current events both national and international, the latest achievements in science and culture, and offers some programs, which are both interesting and stimulating. every day we can see different tips of programs on tv. news is broadcast at regular intervals. they also present operas, ballets, music concerts and various shows. broadcast for schools are produced on five days of the week, during school hours. in the late afternoon and early evening tv channels showed special programs for children. in the evenings and at weekends there are broadcasts of sports events. a large time of tv evening’s time is occupied by films and serials, but as for me i like quizzes. a quizzes–program is a question and an answer competition which offers money and other prizes and to the winners. such programs as “wonders field”, "what, where, when”, “a hundred to one” are my favorite ones, because they are both informative and interesting. but best of all i like the programs of “travellers' club”, because it gives me a chance to travel of other the world with out living home. far away countries and their customs and traditional are come into my living room.

my favourite book is "notre dame de paris". that book has very intresting plot. first of all, there is touching story of love. esmeralda is a beautiful gypsy girl with a kind and generous heart. she fall in love with phoebus. esmeralda captures the hearts of many men, including those of a captain phoebus and a poor street poet, pierre gringoire, but especially those of quasimodo and his adoptive father, claude frollo, the archdeacon of notre dame. finally, she died because of phoebus' and frollo's charges. only quasimodo loved her by pure and true love.

моя любимая  книга  "собор парижской богоматери".  эта книга  имеет   интересный  сюжет.  прежде всего,  это  трогательная   любви.  эсмеральда  -  красивая  цыганка с  добрым и щедрым  сердцем.  она  влюбилась в  феба.  эсмеральда  завладевает  сердцами многих  мужчин, в том числе  капитана  феба  и  бедного уличного  поэта  пьера  гренгуара, особенно ,  квазимодо  и его  приемного отеца, клода  фролло,  архидиакона  собора парижской богоматери.  в итоге,  она умерла  из-за  обвинений феба и фролло.  только  квазимодо  любил ее  чистой  и  настоящей любвью.

one day  in 1777 i was relaxing in front  of the fire with my laundry drying nearby.   after a while i noticed that one of my shirts had started to float upwards. i was  curious about what  was happening so  i  threw some  small  pieces of paper  into  the    fireplace  to see  it  the same thing happened to them.  when i saw them coming out of the chimney i came to the conclusion that smoke had the    power to lift things up and carry  them through the air. i loved science and wanted to become an inventor so i started trying to think of a craft that would be able to capture smoke and  lift people  off  the ground. along with my brother jacques i began performing experiments on something that later became the first hot-air balloon.

  my brother and i quickly realised that it was heat and not smoke that had the power to lift things. on 19th september 1783 we presented our first hot-air balloon which was made from paper and clot. we burned some staw underneath it and the heat helped the balloon to float. as this was its first  trip we were  too nervous to go up in the balloon  ourselves. so instead  we put a sheep a duck and a chicken in  the basket that hung below the  balloon for the two-mile journey.

the new  invention was a great success and the animals landed safe and sound. a  huge crowd including some  members of the french royal family  gathered  to watch the  balloon floating high in the sky. shortly afterwards we asked the king for  permission  to send men up the balloon. the king agreed and the  first flight consisting of human passengers took place in paris on the  21st november   1783      with great success . the balloon  reached heights of around  150 metres as  it floated over the paris’ rooftops starting a long a long tradition of hot-air  ballooning.
