my name is julia. i’m fourteen years old. i’m fond of reading. books take an important place in my life. i was taught to like and take care of books from the childhood. i find out much new, useful and interesting information from books. they teach me to take right decisions and apprehend school subjects better. i can find an answer to any interesting question in books. i get knowledge from them. i like to read books about the middle ages and also i like historical and fantastic works. i plunge into another world at once. also i like scientific stories about animals and plants. the book is a medicine for soul. when i finish reading of a good book i always feel upset because of its fast end. one famous writer said that books are our friends. i completely agree with him. it seems to me that books take an important place in our life and they are necessary for everybody.

The charitable foundation “Gift of Life”(Podari Zhizn) was created in 2006 in Moscow by two Russian actresses Dina Korzun and Chulpan Khamatova. It’s main concern is to help children and young adults with cancer and other serious illnesses. “Gift of Life” is one of the largest charitable organizations in Russia. It has already helped thousands of sick children.

The foundation raises money to buy medications and special equipment for hospitals because the treatment of seriously ill children is extremely expensive and their families cannot afford it. A lot of people volunteer to help them raise money. Some volunteers come to hospitals to draw with children, organize performances and competitions, sing songs and make cartoons. They disguise themselves as clowns, learn to show tricks, blow soap bubbles or sculpt from clay. And they come up with many other incredible things that can bring joy to a sick child.

There are hundreds of other charitable foundations in our country. Our parents can also donate just a small sum of money to help seriously ill children, orphans, disabled children or elderly people. I’m sure our help is really important because we can save somebody’s life. Life is so precious and I believe there is nothing more important than life!
