Kiev is the capital of ukraine and one of the oldest cities in europe. it has a long history and rich culture. there are many ancient churches, cathedral, monuments, outstanding buildings and museums in it. all in all the city of kiev has a great number of interesting sights. perhaps the most beautiful and famous ones are kyiv pechersk lavra, saint sophia’s cathedral, golden gates of kiev, the monument to bogdan khmelnitsky, and khrischatyk-street. let me tell you a little bit about each of these places. the most visited sight in kiev is the ancient monastery of kiev pechersk lavra, also known as kiev monastery of the caves. this historic and religious sight got its name after the district where it is located. every year millions of visitors come to see its unique buildings and take a tour along the caves. this monastery exists for more than 900 years. the second interesting and ancient sight of kiev is saint sophia’s cathedral. it once was a cathedral temple of kiev metropolis. today it’s an outstanding architectural monument and a popular museum. both the kiev pechersk lavra and saint sophia’s cathedral are recognized by the unesco heritage. golden gates of kiev also refer to the historical landmarks of the city. the golden gates are situated not far from the cathedral of saint sophia. they once were the gateway in the ancient city fortress. today, it is an interesting museum with the monument to yaroslav the wise in front. many tourists come to see the monument to bogdan khmelnitsky at sophia square. he used to be the 17th century cossack hetman and a great military leader. the central street of kiev is khreschatik. with the length of 1.2 km, it is one of the longest streets in europe. khreschatik runs through three squares: european square, maidan nezalezhnosti and bessarabskaya square. other places of interest in kiev include the andriyivskyy descent, st. michael’s golden-domed monastery, the state historical museum of ukraine and many others.киев является столицей украины и одним из старейших городов в европе. он имеет длинную и богатую культуру. в нем есть много старинных церквей, соборов, памятников, зданий и музеев. в целом в городе киев есть большое количество интересных достопримечательностей. , самые красивые и известные из них это: киево-печерская лавра, софийский собор, золотые ворота киева, памятник богдану хмельницкому, и улица крещатик. позвольте мне рассказать вам немного о каждом из этих мест. самая посещаемая достопримечательность в киеве – это древний монастырь киево-печерская лавра, также известный как киевский монастырь пещер. это и религиозная достопримечательность получила свое название в честь района, где она расположена. каждый год миллионы туристов приезжают, чтобы посмотреть на его уникальные здания и совершить экскурсию по пещерам. этот монастырь существует уже более 900 лет. вторая интересная и старинная достопримечательность киева – это собор святой софии. когда-то он был соборным храмом киевской митрополии. сегодня это памятник архитектуры и популярный музей. и киево-печерская лавра, и собор святой софии признаны наследием юнеско. золотые ворота киева также относятся к достопримечательностям города. золотые ворота находятся недалеко от собора святой софии. они когда-то были воротами в древний город-крепость. сегодня это интересный музей с памятником ярославу мудрому впереди. многие туристы приезжают, чтобы посмотреть на памятник богдану хмельницкому на софийской площади. в 17-м веке он был казацким гетманом и великим полководцем. центральная улица киева – крещатик. при длине 1,2 км, она является одной из самых длинных улиц в европе. крещатик проходит через три площади: европейскую площадь, майдан незалежности и бессарабскую площадь. к другим достопримечательностям киева относятся андреевский спуск, златоверхий михайловский монастырь, государственный музей украины и многие другие.

The year is divided into four seasons: spring, summer,autumn and winter and spring nature awakens from  her long win­ter sleep. the trees are filled with new life, the earth is warmed with the rays* of the sun and the weather gets gradually milder. the fields and the meadows are covered with  fresh green grass. the woods and the forests are filled with the songs of  the birds. the sky is blue and cloudless of night millions of stars shine in the darkness.when summer comes the weather gets still wanner and sometimes it’s very hot. it’s the farmer’s busy season — he works in  his fields in morning or night. the grass must be cut and the hay** must be laid, while the dry weather lasts.sometimes the skies are overcast the  heavy clouds, there are storms and  thunder, lightning and hail*.autumn brings it the harvest** time, when the crops are gathered in and the fruit is picked from the orchard. the days are shorter and the nights longer. the woods turn yellow and brown, leaves begin to fall down from the trees and the ground is cov­ered in them. the skies are grey and very often it rains. when winter comes we have to spend more time indoors because out of doors it is cold. wfe may get fog, sleet and frost. ponds, lakes, rivers and streams are frozen, and the roads are sometimes covered in  slippery ice or deep snow. the trees are bare. bitter north winds have stripped them from  all their leaves.
