Так, наши культурные растения, которые насчитывают всего 150 видов, находят широкое применение как источник пищи, и лишь 5000 видов из общего числа 265–000 когда-либо возделывались человеком. Мы еще недостаточно знаем о полезных свойствах растений и животных, которые могли бы найти применение в сельском хозяйстве, медицине и других отраслях нашей экономики.
