Obviously, the first teachers we have in our lives in most cases are our parents. they teach us to walk, to speak, and to have good manners before we reach "the real world. " more than even the professional teachers that we have at school, parents are generally the most involved in the development and education of children.almost for sure our parents are the best teachers at the beginning of our lives. parents are most committed and involved in teaching their children, they have a kind of instinct to sacrifice a part of themselves for the betterment of their children. they love us and have great patience while passing down their knowledge to us. they wish us a success and thus will not teach us bad things. and of course, implicit learning occurs when children unconsciously copy some of their habits and styles of behavior. during the second stage of child development parents can still be in the best position to offer advice even though the children might not accept it. in this case, perhaps the friends of a child would be the best teachers. adolescents are notoriously rebellious in many cultures and may automatically reject any advice from their parents. my first marriage for instance, was solely a matter of doing the opposite when my parents tried to intrude in offering their advice. so in such matters, parents should be much more flexible and be rather the partners with their children. so we can see that being a teacher of growing child become more and more complicated case as the time passes and many parents are simply not able to meet the increased demands.on the other hand, i would say that parents are not professional teachers and they tend to be very biased by their love of their children. so wishing good things and an easy life may prevent children from maturation. in any case, parents usually can present only one viewpoint of the world, while good teaching should be based on different attitudes. thus, when children go to school and have a great diversity of teachers, they learn much more than their parents could probably give them. furthermore, once our parents get older, they become more conservative and cannot always be objective in regard to modern trends and fashions. thus we need to take their advice with caution during that period. however, some kind of intuition that i believe shared between relatives about what everybody needs and great love that exists in families still makes our parents very good teachers and advisers at any time. in conclusion, while parents are not the ideal teachers, and well-rounded children will generally need a great diversity of teachers in their lives in order to have a more accurate view of the world, parents are generally the most committed of all teachers and have the greatest emotional investment in their children and their future.(если много сократи)

Christmas in Australia

Most Australians have been dreaming of a white Christmas for centuries. But the traditional European Christmas is just a myth for Australians. Santas wearing thick woollen clothes don't fit with Australia's thirty-degree heat. Thankfully things are changing fast. Now they have their own Christmas, Australian style.

Australia is a country which is largely made up of desert and sandy beaches. For the first settlers, two hundred years ago, a plate of corned meat and a mug of billy tea might have been the best Christmas dinner available. As a new nation developed and grew richer, people tried to recreate the kind of Christmas that they used to have in Europe.

Christmas in Australia happens in the summer. However, we tried our best to deny the reality of a summer Christmas. In the class-room, children learned songs like Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bells. Up until recently, the only Christmas cards published portrayed white winter Christmases, All this was a bit ridiculous in a country where 80 per cent of the land has never witnessed a snowflake, even in winter.

However, the last ten years have witnessed some big changes in the Australian lifestyle. Many Australians now believe that the country should break its connections with Britain and the British Queen.

Now Australians see themselves as inhabitants of the Asia Pacific region. So now Christmas has got an Australian identity.

It's rare to find a flake of snow on Christmas cards these days. Now the publishers print Christmas cards with native Australian animals and landscape scenes of the Australian bush.

On Christmas day you'll find a large percentage of kids on the beach playing with their new surfboards, building sand-castles rather than snowmen. Indeed one of the most typical Australian Christmas presents is a beach towel.

It's not only with food and gifts that Australian Christmases differ from European ones. Because of the weather, the atmosphere of Christmas is different.

Instead of being a serious time where most families are indoors, Australians are usually outdoors in shorts and T-shirts, taking a cold six-pack of beer to a friend's barbecue. There are loads of summer festivals with people celebrating Christmas in carnival style.

What is unique though is something that most Australians are starting to dream of. That is a Christmas of sunshine, surf and sand. Although to many Europeans this may seem strange, to many Australians it's now the only Christmas worth dreaming of.

People do sports to be healthy. Sports play an important part in the modern Ukrainian society. There are many sports grounds, swimming pools, football fields in each town. A lot of people are fond of jogging. For many young people in Ukraine sport is a hobby. I hope these changes will help Ukrainians to keep fit and enjoy life as it is.

The most popular kinds of sports in Ukraine are volleyball football, athletics, and swimming. Much attention is also paid to professional sports. Every year there are a lot of sports competitions, sports days and Olympiads. Our sportsmen also take part in the Olympic Games once in four years. The Olympic victories of Ukrainian athletes are quite impressive: about 200 gold medals. Among the Olympic champions are L. Latynina, О Bayul. Y. Klotchkova, S. Bubka and many others. Now their names are famous all over the world.

In order to become a champion, you must train for many years. A good coach is also very important. Nowadays specialists in physical training are trained by Кiev Institute of Physical Training, in Lvov, Dnepropetrovsk, and by 14 high physical training schools. The largest stadiums are Kiev Stadium for 100.000 spectators and Kiev Palace of Sports for 12.000 spectators. There are also some international sports clubs like "Spartak" or "Progress" in Lvov, Chernovtsy and other cities.
