I was sleeping yesterday at 11 p.m.  We were watching TV when my father came home.  The boy was doing his homework at five in the evening the day before yesterday.  My son was playing chess with his father when his friend rang him up. The girls were dancing when the music stopped.  I was having a shower when the telephone rang.

I was not washing up when the postman came.  We weren't singing when somebody knocked on the door. The pupils were not working when the teacher came back.  The children were not playing yesterday at four.   My sons were not laughing when their teacher came to see me.
