1. Подлежащее

To write an absolutely new program is a hard task. Написать абсолютно новую программу – трудная задача. (Написание абсолютно новой программы – трудная задача).

По современным стандартам языка предпочтительнее начинать предложение с вводного it , если инфинитив употребляется в качестве подлежащего.

It is a hard task to write an absolutely new program. (Перевод тот же.)

2. Часть сказуемого

а) составного именного

Your job is to write antivirus programs. Твоя работа – писать антивирусные программы.

б) составного глагольного после модальных глаголов can, may, must etc., глаголов to begin/ to start – начинать; to continue – продолжать, to cease – прекращать, сочетания used to – бывало, раньше и др.

He must know her address. Он, должно быть, знает ее адрес.

3. Дополнение

He decided to upgrade his computer. Он решил модернизировать свой компьютер.

4. Определение

а) инфинитив в функции определения стоит после определяемого существительного и отвечает на вопрос какой?:

They have no intention to order new application software. У них нет намерения (какого?) заказывать новые прикладные программы.

б) инфинитив-определение часто имеет форму страдательного залога и переводится придаточным определительным предложением, сказуемое которого имеет оттенок долженствования (который должен/ надо/ необходимо…), возможности (который может…) или будущего времени (который будет…):
