         Dear Ryan,

         Thanks a lot for your letter. I should apologize for not writing earlier as I was really busy with my school.

         In your letter, you asked me about the weather in my country. Well, in Russia, weather is rather unpredictable. The worst kind of the weather I’ve experienced was the storm wind and heavy hail. Frankly speaking, we only close windows to prepare for a really bad storm. I suppose the south of Russia has the best weather.

         I’d like you to tell me more about your sister’s university place. How has she got it? Has she got it for free or paid anything? What university has she got the place in?

         Unfortunately, I have to finish my letter. Loads of  homework.

New York,( or the Big Apple, as the Americans call it), is the biggest city in the USA and one of the largest cities of the world.It is situated at the mouth of the Hudson river, it's the biggest sea-port.The most famous landmark of New York City is the very well-known Statue of Liberty.The population of this city is near 12 million people. It is the capital of New York State.It is an industrial and cultural centre of the country.There are 5 boroughs in New York — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island or Richmond.  Most business is centred in Manhattan Island. The whole area is very small, that's why the sky-scrapers were invented in New York and, especially, in Wall Street.The famous Empire State building of New York City is considered as one of the tallest buildings in the world, as also were the Twin Towers till September 11. Wall Street is a narrow street with big houses,but it is the busiest street in the USA, people do business there.Another famous street is Broadway, the centre of the theatres and night life. When you come to New York you see lots of cars,  you do not see any trees or flowers in the streets, but only cars.You also will see and hear advertisements everywhere.The city is the home of the United Nations.
