Если обратиться в самую глубину кельтских легенд, то впервые заметили это существо римские завоеватели. Первые же упоминания о лохнесском чудовище относится к 5 веку нашей эры, где в одной из летописей упоминается водяной зверь реки Несс. Потом все упоминания о Несси пропадают аж до 1880 года, когда при совершенно нормальной погоде ушел на дно парусник с людьми. Северные шотландцы сразу же вспомнили о чудовище, и начали плодить всевозможные слухи и легенды.Среди последующих упоминаний о лохнесском чудовище свидетельства английского военного летчика Фаррэла, который пролетая над островом в 1943 году увидел нечто, похожее на Несси.
