Christmas - it's one of the main festivals in the calendar Christians. Belarus has decided to celebrate not the day of Christmas and Christmas Eve (Christmas Eve). On Christmas Eve, people refrain from eating until late evening. Dinner by the rules should be lean, and one of the traditional dishes can be stewed fruit (compote of dried pears, apples, cherries and plums) or kutia (boiled rice or wheat grains, flavored with honey). In Belarus, Christmas table decorated in a special way. Under the tablecloth often put a small amount of straw or hay, as the memory of the manger in which the baby slept-Christ, and on the floor under the table - an iron object, it alternately put your feet all around the table in order to maintain health during all subsequent years: as you know, iron - a symbol of the fortress of the body. In some families, to scare away evil spirits from the house, put under the tablecloth garlic cloves.
