The genre of comedy is diverse: comedies can be light, entertaining, but often they acquire a sharply satirical character. There is the concept of "high comedy", which includes elements not only comic but also tragic. In this case, sometimes they talk about tragicomedy. Depending on what the plot of the play is based on - on comic situations, external misunderstandings or on the depiction of characters, a comedy of "positions" and a comedy of "characters" are distinguished. But here, too, a clear division is far from always applicable.
