The first games took place in 776 B.C. For those times the Olympic Games were not just sports competitions, but a very important religious practice which was devoted to the main god of Greeks Zeus. A month before opening the games athletes arrived at Olympia where under the leadership of skilled trainers prepared for competitions. For the time of holding the Olympic Games, all wars were stopped and the sacred peace was established. Nowadays the Olympic Games are held every time in different countries and people all over the world watch them on TV with great pleasure.
